Tēnā koe Mike

Thank you for your request of 22 July 2025, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information about Prototype type 3s and MANs under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). We
copy and respond to each aspect of your request below.

1.  Why have there been delays in commissioning the 4x Type 3 Next Gen prototype
appliances from Angloco and Emergency One, given they have now finished their initial
review and Emergency One has won the tender to supply these trucks in the future?

The delays are due to modifications being made to the trial appliances before they are
permanently introduced into service.

2.  When are these 4 appliances expected to be in frontline service in permanent stations?

We can advise that this is unconfirmed at this stage. For this reason, we are refusing this aspect of
your request under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document alleged to contain the information
requested does not exist.

3.  FENZ has believed to of received some new MAN appliances with a different body
manufacturer that will be commissioned before the arrival of the next-gen Type 3s from
Emergency One. When does FENZ expect to put these into service?

We expect the new MAN appliances to begin to go into operational service in quarter four of 2025.

4.  Can FENZ release a cascade plan for the Type 3s appliances once the Prototypes, new MAN
Type 3s, arrive and are put into service?

The cascade plan that includes new Type 3 appliances has not yet been produced but may be
available for release in the future.
