Appointment to the Chartered Professional Engineers Council
I am pleased to appoint you as a member of the Chartered Professional Engineers Council
(the Council) for a five-year term commencing on 19 June 2025 and expiring on 18 June
2030. A notice of your appointment will be published in the
New Zealand Gazette.
Legislative framework
Your appointment is made under section 49 of the Chartered Professional Engineers of New
Zealand Act 2002 (the Act).
Information
In accepting this appointment, I expect all appointees to:
• perform their functions efficiently, effectively, consistently and ethically with the spirit
of service to the public;
• recognise their individual, and the Council’s, accountability to the Minister for Building
and Construction and Parliament;

• avoid disclosing information, except in accordance with the Council’s functions as
permitted or required by law;
• notify my office of any potentially contentious issues of public interest that may have
the
a significant impact on the Council; and
• disclose any matters of interest as outlined under clauses 13-16 of Schedule 1 of the
Act.
Term of office under
Members may be reappointed; however, there should be no expectation on the part of new
appointees or incumbent members that they will automatically be reappointed.
You may resign by written notice to me. Note that under clause 7 of Schedule 1 of the Act, I
may, after consulting the Attorney-General, remove a member from office for breach of duty,
failure or inability to perform duties, misconduct or any other just cause.
Remuneration and position description
Released
Fees and expenses are paid according to the Cabinet Fees Framework. As a member, you
will be paid $434 per day for performing your role. You are also entitled to be paid actual and
reasonable costs incurred in travelling or other expenses in performing duties as a member
of the Council. Allowances and expenses are paid in accordance with the Fees and
Travelling Allowances Act 1951.
