Amended decision under the Official Information Act
I am writing to you, further to Kāinga Ora’s decision dated 25 July 2025, and in response to a
complain received from the Office of the Ombudsman on 1 December 2025.
On 5 July 2025 you had submitted the following information request to Kāinga Ora, under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Please provide details relating to any known further restructures expected to occur between July
2025 and June 2026, including any held drafts for any proposals for restructures for that period.
On 25 July 2025, Kāinga Ora had responded to your request advising that no further staff
reductions were planned (at that point in time). Considering your Ombudsman Act complaint we
have re-evaluated this decision and agree that additional details should have been provided within
our response. Specifically, that Kāinga Ora was refusing your request under section 18(e) of the
Act, as no documents existed containing the information requested.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. There
is information about how to make a complaint at
https://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by
freephone on
0800 802 602.
Please note that Kāinga Ora proactively releases some responses to official information requests
where possible. Our response to your request may be published
at
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/official-information-requests/, with your personal
information removed.
