Confirmation of approval for the application for the delivery of Land-Based Fireworks from Frank ACT 1987
Kitts Park as part of Wellington’s New Years Eve Celebration event on 31 December 2024.
Thank you for supplying all the associated documentation for the land-based fireworks display on New
Years Eve in Wellington.
We are pleased to confirm that WCC has granted permission for the application to WorkSafe for the
delivery of
Land-Based Fireworks from Frank Kitts Park as part of Wellington’s New Years Eve
AND MEETINGS
Celebration event on 31 December 2024, as required under the Public Places Bylaw 2022.
The Waterfront Operations team, in collaboration with the WCC Corporate Health & Safety team and
WCC Events team, have reviewed the event documentation you have supplied. We believe the plans
are appropriate for the event.
INFORMATION
We record that our decision to grant permission has considered the following:
(1) The event organiser has an appropriate event/safety plan that takes into account the specific
hazards and risks.
(2) The event organiser has confirmed they are aware of and will comply with all relevant
standards.
(3) The event organiser is experienced with the type and complexity of the event.
(4) The people running the event are appropriately qualified.
(5) After WCC enquiries, the event organiser has disclosed any serious and/or concerning health
and safety issues in the past.
We also record that WCC has advised you about the specific hazards in the event area, the key ones
being.
• The risk of falling at the wharfs edge
• Asset failure e.g. lighting
• Weight loading on the wharf
• Connecting to services e.g. electrical
• Weather conditions e.g. wind

Confirmation of approval for the delivery of the New Years Event on Wellington Waterfront on 31 ACT
December 2024.
We are pleased to confirm that WCC has granted permission for the New Years Event public event
scheduled for 31 December 2024, as required under the Public Places Bylaw 2022.

and hazardous substance management certification.

It is your responsibility to ensure the event is run in accordance with the approval granted by WCC. We
trust that the event producer will adhere to these plans to ensure a successful and safe event. Please
note that all Health & Safety responsibilities during the pack-in, delivery of the event, and pack-out
phases are the responsibility of the event producer.
We look forward to the successful execution of the New Years Eve public event.
