Thank you for your request of 29 June 2025, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
1. An updated cascade list for Type 1, Type 2, Rural Pumps, Tankers and any other vehicles
that are being procured and/or built;
2. a cascade list for new Type 3 Angloco MAN and EmergencyOne Scania appliances;
3. as it is no longer commercially sensitive, all correspondence relating to the Angloco MAN
and EmergencyOne Scania appliances
4. a cascade list, or any correspondence of, the new Type 5 Medium, Type 5 Large and Type 6
Bronto appliances;
5. an updated Station Tier List, or the new/renamed version of this document;
Thank you for refining your request on 22 July 2025 to the following:
1. An updated cascade list for Type 1, Type 2, Rural Pumps, Tankers and any other vehicles
that are being procured and/or built;
2. Provide a full list of changes being implemented to the EmergencyOne Scanias following
the trial period, and the estimated timeframe of the appliances being in service.
3. Provide the specifications of the Angloco MAN appliance, including pump details, and what
changes have been made, or recommended to the chassis to ensure there are no cracking
or issues that the "Generation One" MANs experienced, and still have.
4. Provide correspondence regarding the most recent proposal regarding the new Type 5
Medium, Type 5 Large and Type 6 Bronto appliances. Any documentation that exists or has
been drafted regarding aerial appliance replacements and movements.
5. Please provide an updated appliance tier list, broken down into Type 1, 2 and 3 appliances.
This letter is to advise that Fire and Emergency needs to extend the timeframe of our response to
your request by 15 working days, pursuant to section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, as consultations
necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
For this reason, you can expect to receive our response no later than 15 August 2025. We will
endeavour to respond sooner than this date if possible. If you no longer require this information,
please let us know.
You have the right to request an investigation and review of Fire and Emergency’s decision to
extend the timeframe by the Ombudsman. Information about how to make a complaint is
