Request for Information under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (the Act) (the LGOIMA)
Thank you for your email of
24 June 2025 requesting the following information:
I would like to know over the past 5 years how many complaints you have
received about aircraft operating over the area forming a box between Te Horo
Beach, Te Horo township and the Otaki river.
Ideally this would contain the nature of the complaint, i.e Noise or Low flight
and also outcomes of any complaints however number of complaints broken
down by calendar year wil suffice
Council records show one customer service request in the last 5 years. A copy of this
request is attached.
The personal details of some individuals have been withheld from the information
provided. The decision to withhold this information is made under section 7(2)(a) of
the Act which allows for Council to withhold information in order to protect the privacy
of natural persons. I am satisfied that the withholding of this information is not
outweighed by public interest considerations in section 7(1) favouring release.
You may also wish to approach the Civil Aviation Authority to request information
about any complaints that they may have received about the area that you have
indicated in your letter.
