Thank you for your email dated 19 June 2025 to Te Kaunihera o Pōneke | Wellington City
Council (the Council) requesting the fol owing information:
• Please provide a copy of the Operating Procedural Document / Policy for the
operation of this Gate and if there are consent requirements for its operation that
Council or anyone else needs to comply with.
• Please provide the reason it was changed (most recent) and whether it was a
planned or in response to something.
Your request has been considered under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
Our Access User Guide (provided to residents) states that the casual visitor PIN code will be
changed by the Council every six months or as required, and notice wil be given five
working days prior to the change. No reason needs to be provided to change the PIN.
With regards to the most recent change, the Council received an email from a resident
requesting a change to the casual visitor PIN. We were advised that there had been a few
instances of unknown vehicles travel ing up and down Hawkins Hil Road very late at night.
The resident was aware of recent damage to the gate and attempted break-ins.
Officers reviewed when the PIN code was last changed and noticed that the casual visitor
PIN code was last changed in October 2024.
Residents were going to be notified on 15 May 2025 advising that the old code will expire on
25 May 2025. However, due to an administrative error on our part, this didn’t occur as
planned and officers sent an email on 25 May 2025 advising that the change would take
effect immediately.
