I refer to your official information request to the CAA dated 04 June 2025 for the following:
“1) Will Luxon's 787s be grounded until the cause of this horrific crash is identified?
2) If not, what actions are being taken to mitigate the risk to Air New Zealand passengers and the
general public from Luxon's 787s?”
Our Response:
Thank you for your request for information on the Air India crash.
This is an unfolding situation which we are aware of. However, since the Air India crash occurred
outside of New Zealand airspace, the CAA won’t be involved in any formal inquiry to establish what
happened.
CAA will fol ow any relevant safety recommendations that come out of the crash investigation.
With the investigation underway and while it’s ongoing, it’s likely that CAA wil not be in a position to
offer any further comment.
