Tēnā koe Andrew,
Thank you for your Official Information Act request to the Department of Conservation, received on
29 May 2025 in which you asked for:
1. Any document, permit, or authorisation issued by the Department of Conservation that allows
Turoa to operate sightseeing lifts at Turoa outside the 1 June to 30 November concession
period.
2. Any correspondence (emails, letters, meeting notes, or internal memos) held by the
Department of Conservation that relate to the 2025 Turoa season dates, including any
discussions or decisions about proposed or approved sightseeing operations outside the
usual concession dates.
If any part of this request is likely to be refused under any sections of the Act, I request that
you consider releasing the remainder of the information wherever possible.
This letter is to advise you that we are extending the 20 working day period to respond to your
request, as allowed under section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982. We require an
additional 30
days to respond to your request. We will send you a response no later than 11 August
2025, earlier if possible.
The length of extension applied is representative of consultation required to make a decision on the
request. We are also presently searching through a large quantity of information to ensure we
capture all potentially in scope material. This means that a proper response to the request cannot
reasonably be made within the original time limit.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act to make a complaint to an
Ombudsman about the extension.
If you wish to discuss this response to your request, please contact
[email address]. Nāku noa, nā
