The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days
after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it wil not be possible to meet that time limit,
and we are therefore writing to notify you that we are extending the 20-working-day time limit as
allowed for under section 15A of the Act. We need 20 more working days to respond to your request
and wil send you our response on or before 23 July 2025.
This extension is necessary because your request is large and necessitates a search through a large
quantity of information both online and in hard copy. Therefore, meeting the original time limit would
unreasonably interfere with our operations.
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the extension.
More information about the Ombudsman is available online at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
In our email of 24 June 2025, we provided a list of projects that fall within scope of your request and
asked you to refine it to a manageable level. We strongly encourage you to contact Bruce Waugh,
Practice Lead - Project Services, Infrastructure Delivery – Central and Lower South Island, on 027
283 7580 to discuss what particular projects or specific information is of interest to you to help us
meet your request. We apologise about not reaching out sooner regarding clarification of your
request.
In the meantime, we wil continue working on your request with the aim to release information in
tranches as it becomes available.
For information requiring substantial collation and research, we wil advise you of the cost associated
with its collation as soon as we determine the effort required to col ate it.
If you would like to discuss this letter with NZTA, please contact Ministerial Services by email to
[NZTA request email].
Yours sincerely
Leisa Coley
