Thank you for your email on 21 May 2025, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the 
following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
“Please provide the number of doctor positions in public hospitals nationwide that have 
remained unfilled for longer than three months, broken down by role, hospital, specialty, 
and reason for vacancy, from July 2022 to the present.” 
Response 
On 4 June 2025, we asked you to refine your request, however we did not hear back from you. 
In the absence of any response, we are refusing your request under Section 18(f) of the OIA as 
collating this information would require substantial collation. We do not believe that extending the 
timeframe for response or fixing a charge would remove the impact that supplying the information 
would have on our organisation.
