Request for Official Information: Whanganui Land Settlement Negotiation Trust
Thank you for your correspondence of 24 April 2025, requesting the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA):
A breakdown of all funding, financial grants, or monetary support provided to the Whanganui Land
Settlement Trust by your agency (or any predecessor agency), from 2018 to present.
For each instance of funding, please include:
The amount provided, the date of the transaction or agreement, the purpose or project for which the
funding was intended, and any relevant conditions or obligations attached to the funding.
Your request as submitted is administratively challenging. There have been many transactions with the
Trust during the period specified, some of which comprise multiple payments for several different
purposes or projects completed. Reconciling each transaction with the individual projects and objectives
involved would take a significant amount of time. As such, we have responded to your request by
providing a summary (attached to this letter) of the funding provided. This approach is consistent with
section 16(2) of the OIA in that a more detailed analysis would impair the efficient administration of Te
Tari Whakatau.
We will be proactively releasing this response
When Te Tari Whakatau acknowledged receipt of your OIA request, we advised we may proactively
release your OIA response on our website. After considering our response to your request, we can advise
that it will be published no earlier than 20 working days from the date of this letter at
www.whakatau.govt.nz. Your personal and other identifying information will be removed.
If you have any concerns about the information in this response being published on our website please
contact us by emailin
g [email address] by 5.00pm on 3 June.
You have the right to seek a review of our decision
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
