Thank you for your email on 17 April 2025, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the
following under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“The demographic breakdown of the population served in each district (e.g.
ethnicity, age, gender where available).
The demographic breakdown of the health workforce, specifically junior and senior doctors
and nurses employed in each district (e.g. ethnicity, age,gender where available).
Copies of any current policies, procedures, or frameworks in place to ensure culturally safe
care where there is a significant mismatch between the demographics of the patient
population and the demographics of the staff providing care.”
Response
For the sake of clarity I wil address each question in turn.
The demographic breakdown of the population served in each district (e.g.
ethnicity, age, gender where available).
This part of your request was Statistics NZ for response under section 14 of the Act. You will
receive a response from them in due course.

The Act does not require an agency to form an opinion or create new information to answer a
request. This part of your request is therefore refused under section 18(g) of the Act.
