Thank you for your email of 17 April 2025 to Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and
Urban Development (the Ministry) requesting the following information under the Of icial
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1. A breakdown of where the 500 homes in the existing CHP pipeline are being developed,
by CHP and delivery timeframe.
2. A breakdown of where the 600 homes that have been funded wil be delivered, by CHP
and delivery timeframe.
On 20 May 2025, you were notified of the decision to grant your request.
In Budget 2024, the Government committed $140 mil ion in new funding for 1,500 new social
homes to be provided by Community Housing Providers (CHPs).
These homes are being delivered via two pathways:
1. Maintaining momentum: contracting on a project by project basis
2. Strategic partners: contracted to deliver a set number of places over a specific time.
The full 1,500 social housing places funded through Budget 2024 are expected to be delivered by
June 2027.

As contractual negotiations for the delivery of the remaining places remain ongoing, I am
withholding this information under section 9(2)(j) of the Act, to enable a Minister of the Crown or
any public service agency or organisation holding the information to carry on, without prejudice or
disadvantage, negotiations.
In terms of section 9(1) of the Act, I am satisfied that, in the circumstances, the decision to withhold
information under section 9 of the Act is not outweighed by other considerations that render it
desirable to make the information available in the public interest.
