I refer to your request under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
(the Act) of 29 January 2025 for information regarding parking complaints received in terms of
Section 12 of the Waimakariri District Council Parking Bylaw 2019. In accordance with Section
13 of the Act, we advise as follows:
Question 1
The total number of parking complaints made in the last 24 months.
Response 1
The Council received 1,366 parking complaints in the last 24 months, of
which 99 related to Section 12 of the Waimakariri District Council Parking
Bylaw 2019.
Question 2
The total number of instances where a particular vehicle has had repeated
complaints made, i.e. the number of times where more than one complaint
has been made against a particular vehicle.
Response 2
The Council’s system does not record the number of complaints received
against a specific vehicle. The required information can, therefore, not be
provided under section 17(g) of the Act, as the Council does not hold the
information requested.
Question 3
The total number of instances where a particular location has had repeated
complaints made, i.e. a particular location is used to store vehicles that may
change, and repeated complaints have been made involving the same
location but different vehicles.
Response 3
The Council received 136 repeated complaints regarding the storage of
vehicles in a particular location.
