[FYI request #29522 email]
Dear Dan Moskovitz
Thank you for your email of 11 December 2024 requesting information relating to
Asparagopsis taxiformis risk assessment. Your request has been considered under the
Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested the following:
Please provide the risk assessment for the invasive seaweed Asparagopsis
taxiformis.
Also, why did MPI choose not to proactively release the A. taxiformis risk
assessment?
Please find attached as Appendix One, a copy of scientific technical advice regarding the risk
assessment for macroalga
Asparagopsis taxiformis. Please note some information has been
withheld as ‘out-of-scope’ as it doesn’t relate to the information being released.
In relation to your proactive release question, this document (technical advice) was not
intended to be proactively released, however mechanisms like the OIA process enable
individuals and stakeholders interested in specific information to request it.
Should you have any concerns with this response, I would encourage you to raise these with
the Ministry for Primary Industries at
[email address]. Alternatively, you
are advised of your right to also raise any concerns with the Office of the Ombudsman.
Contact details are: Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143 or at
[email address].
Yours sincerely
