Dear Ashley
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email
of 15 November 2024 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Could you please make available all details related to reported TTM incidents (crashes)
reported to NZTA from 2015 to 2024. Ideally this would be all the information that is on
the CoPTTM Incident Report.
Please also indicate the following:
Are all the incidents within NZTA CAS?
On 18 November 2024 you clarified parts 1 and 2 of your request as follows:
Part 1 - I am interested in all incidents on the CoPTTM Incident database.
Part 2 - I retract this part of my request.
As the CoPTTM Incident database contains personal information about individual persons, this part of
your request raises privacy concerns. This information is therefore withheld in full under section 9(2)(a)
of the Act to protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural persons.
With respect to the information that has been withheld, I do not consider there are any other factors
which would render it desirable, in the public interest, to make the information available.
To provide reasonable assistance, we are providing statistical information for a 19-month period from
1 January 2022 to 30 September 2024 which is appended to this letter (see APPENDIX).
Regarding this part of your original request:
To the knowledge of NZTA how many of these incidents were investigated by WorkSafe?
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) does not hold this information. We suggest that you
contact WorkSafe via its “contact us” webpage at:
https://www.worksafe.govt.nz/contact-us/
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to
withhold this information. The contact details for the Ombudsman can be located at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
In line with NZTA policy, this response will soon be published on our website, with personal
information removed.
If you would like to discuss this reply with NZTA, please contact us by email to
[NZTA request email].
Yours sincerely
