Response to your request under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
I  refer  to  your  request  to  the  New  Zealand  Customs  Service  (Customs)  submitted  through  the 
FYI.org.nz website on 8 November 2024, in which you requested the following information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
 
“I  would  like  to  request  a  full  organisational  chart  of  the  Intelligence,  Investigations  and 
Enforcement  Group  including  all  job  titles  and  team  names,  excluding  the  names  of  any 
employee.” 
 
In  response  to  your  request,  I  can  confirm  that  organisational  charts  showing  the  composition  of 
Customs’ Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement Group exist, however Customs is withholding 
this information in full under section 6(a) of the Act, as the making available of this information would 
be  likely  to  prejudice the  security  or  defence  of New  Zealand or  the  international  relations  of the 
Government  of  New  Zealand.  The  release  of  this  information  would  likely  divulge  the  number, 
location,  and  type  of  resources  that  Customs  has  to  conduct  intelligence,  investigative,  and 
enforcement activities, and could prejudice Customs’ ability to uphold the security of New Zealand’s 
borders.
