Official Information Act request: Appointment of Public Service Commissioner 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), received 
on 21 October 2024. You requested: 
 
“Please provide the CV and other supporting material that was used in the 
consideration and the final decision to recommend the appointment of Brian 
Roche as the Public Service Commissioner.  
 
For the clarity this would also include the letter of recommendation itself and the 
letter of support by the required two statutory Deputy Public Service 
commissioners. 
 
This office and the Minister for the Public Service, Hon Nicola Wil is hold documents within 
scope of your request.  
 
I believe that the information you have requested is more closely connected to the functions 
of the Minister for the Public Service. I have therefore decided to transfer the decision 
making of the assessment and release of these documents to Minister Willis under section 
14(b)(i ) of the Act. 
 
The Minister for the Public Service has the usual time limits from receipt of this transfer to 
make a decision on your request.
