Thank you for your email of 12 September 2024 to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Your factsheets at https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/our-programmes/government-targets on
the nine Government Targets have charts showing historical information for each
target. Can I have the data that each chart is based on please.
On 23 September 2024, your request was partially transferred to Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry
of Housing and Urban Development (the Ministry) as it relates to Target 8, a 75 percent reduction of
households in Emergency Housing, as we are jointly responsible for this target with the Ministry of
Social Development (MSD).
On 2 October 2024, this request was also partially transferred to the Ministry from MSD for response,
as the data is held by this Ministry.
I am releasing to you the data that was used to produce the Target 8 quarterly progress fact sheet
in the attached Excel document. Please note that the Target includes households receiving
Emergency Housing Special Needs Grants (EH SNG) and households in Contracted Emergency
Housing (CEH), which is only available in Rotorua and began in July 2021.
It is also important to note that the reporting on EH SNG households was only developed in
December 2020, so the figures prior to this are derived from the number of grants issued.
