Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) which was partially
transferred to the Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 23 September 2024 from
the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. You requested data supporting the Nine
Government Targets.
“Your factsheets at https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/our-programmes/government-targets on the
nine Government Targets have charts showing historical information for each target.
Can I have the data that each chart is based on please.”
The Ministry of Health can provide data for targets 1 (shorter stays in emergency departments)
and 2 (shorter wait times for treatment). Please find the requested data overleaf. The data for
both targets is split into three categories:
• historical – results from before the establishment of the Government Targets,
• actual - the results as reported for each target,
• estimated - annual milestones set for the end of each financial year.
You should note that the data included in these tables is taken from the National Collections
databases (National Non-Admit ed Patient Collection and National Booking Reporting System
respectively) at a given time. These results may therefore dif er from other publications as the
collections are considered dynamic databases that can change as information is submitted or
changed.
I trust this information fulfils your request. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with
us, including this decision, please feel free to contact the OIA Services Team on:
[email address].
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
Please note that this response, with your personal details removed, may be published on the
Manatū Hauora website at:
