Information
Sometimes applicants will call the Contact Centre to advise they’re waiting to get their
citizenship and NZ passport to travel to Australia (for example) for a new job or to meet with
family who have settled there. This would definitely let us know we need to fol ow up with
the applicant.

Alternatively, the applicant may have noted future travel plans (in the Travel tab) or have
multiple or long absences or be out of the country based on their INZ API travel history that
might warrant a conversation about where the applicant is planning to settle.

If you have assessed the applicant as not meeting this requirement, there is a letter we can
send to them with their options going forward. This is LET650. Tuwhiria has instructions on
what you need to send depending on the situation.
