Time extension for request for information relating to composition of New Zealand water 
1.  Thank you for your email dated 21 December 2023 in which you requested information that we 
have considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). We attempted to clarify this 
request with you on 11 January 2024, and have not received a response from you. 
2.  The scope of your request is quite broad. We have interpreted your request as asking for al  
information Taumata Arowai holds on chemicals and metals in drinking water, including historical 
data. This will require substantial collation as this scope relates to millions of data points. 
3.  Due to this large volume of data, it wil  not be possible for us to provide you with a decision 
within the maximum timeframe of 20 working days from the date of receipt of your request. 
4.  We are writing to notify you that, in accordance with section 15A(1)(a) and 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, 
we are extending the time to provide you with our decision on your request to 11 March 2024.  
5.  We are also seeking clarification from you on your request to understand what you are looking 
for. Can you please confirm if you are looking for information related to chemicals and metals in a 
specific water supply, or at a specific point in time?
