Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 20 December 2023 to Wellington City Council requesting information 
regarding the Golden Mile revitalisation project. 
 
On 26 January 2024, the following part of your email was transferred to NZ Transport Agency Waka 
Kotahi (NZTA) for response under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 

Consultation assessment, to include where available:  
•  assessment of consultation  
•  written responses for and against project  
•  total number of written submissions for the project and a copy of these as pdf  
•  total number of written submissions against event  
•  total number of businesses impacted  
•  total number of businesses that WCC sat down with including dates, business, memo 
of meeting, cost / benefit analysis, total number of commercial landlords impacted,  
•  total number of commercial landlords that WCC sat down with, including dates, 
landlord, memo of meeting  
•  total number of maori consulted that WCC sat down with, including dates, names, 
memo of meeting 
 
On 30 January 2024, we asked you to clarify and refine the scope of your request because, as 
currently worded, they are very broad in nature and cannot be met without substantial collation or 
research. To date, we have not received a refined request from you. As such, I am refusing your 
request under section 18(f) of the Act. 
 
For context, multiple rounds of engagement/consultation have been undertaken throughout the course 
of the Golden Mile project, as listed below: 
•  Late 2019 – Public engagement on project vision 
•  Mid 2020 – Public consultation on options: Streamline, Prioritise, and Transform 
•  February/March 2022 – Early engagement with business owners/ managers, and residents 
about how they use the space  
•  July/August 2022 – Stakeholder and public engagement on the 30% detailed design 
•  April/May 2023 – Stakeholder and public consultation on proposed traffic resolutions
