Thank you for your email 14 December 2023, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):

How many whole person impairment assessment reports have been carried out by Dr
Russell Meads from the period April 2020 up to 31st of October 2023
•
How many of these reports have been peer reviewed and declined
Assessment report data
In the three-year period 1 April 2020 up to 31 October 2023, ACC has paid Dr Meads for 972 service items
relating to impairment assessments. Please note that this is indicative information only as the service items
reflect all fees associated with providing these services (such as requests for extra information, and non-
attendance).
Peer reviewed reports
To answer this part of your request, we reviewed information held on individual claims. The information we
are providing is limited to the claims we have been able to access. The peer reviews for these assessments
provide recommendations, rather than ‘decline’ them. Accordingly, we are refusing to provide information
on the number of declined reports as this information is not held. This decision is made under section 18(g)
of the Act.
We can advise that a peer review was completed on 127 reports by Dr Meads between 1 April 2020 and 31
October 2023. We have been able to review 82 of those 127 reports. Subsequent to the peer reviews, Dr
Meads re-checked and changed the percentage rating for 12 of those 82 reports. ACC accepted the final
calculations of Dr Meads for all 82 reports.
As this information may be of interest to other members of the public
ACC may decide to release a copy of this response on ACC’s website. All requester data, including your
name and contact details, will be removed prior to release. The released response will be made available
