Thank you for your information request dated 3 December 2023 asking for information relating to
any plans for new equipment, appliances, buildings, or permanent crew for the Oamaru/Waitaki
area in the next three to five years
.
In accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), we outline each of
your questions and our response, below.
1) Any new equipment or appliances that FENZ plans to purchase in the near future to enhance
fire and emergency services in the Oamaru/Waitaki area.
A new 4x4 rural fire appliance will be allocated to Kakanui Fire Brigade in early 2024. Currently,
there are no other new appliances or equipment confirmed to be allocated to the Oamaru/Waitaki
area in the near future.
2) Any new buildings or infrastructure that FENZ plans to construct or acquire to better serve the
communities of the Oamaru/Waitaki area.
3) Any plans to have a permanent crew based at Oamaru Station 72 (Day or Night or Both) in the
near future.
Currently, there are no approved projects or business cases for buildings or infrastructure in the
Oamaru/Waitaki Area. Also, there are no plans for a permanent crew to be based at Oamaru Fire
Station within the next five years. Consequently, your request for this information is refused under
section 18(e) of the OIA, as the information does not exist.
