Thank you for your email of 27 October 2023, requesting the fol owing information from Te Pūkenga

used by each staff member who report or sit in teams under the under the [sic]

This letter provides a formal decision on your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
Background
The fol owing business units fal under the reporting lines of the Pouārahi (Executive Director Māori,
Quality and Academic) of the Wintec business division of Te Pūkenga:
• Product Development
• Māori Pacific Trade Training
• Māori Achievement Unit
• Oire Pacific
• Te Kete Manaaki (Manaaki Pūkenga, Te Niho and Manaaki Ākonga)
• Quality Assurance Unit
• Regional Delivery
Each manager of these business units is al ocated a professional development budget for their
kaimahi (staff), and each kaimahi has a set number of professional development paid leave days
(depending on their employment agreement) from within the salary budget.
It is important to be aware that professional development and associated costs come in many forms
with costs offset in varied ways, which may not all be captured in the costs above. Examples may
include where a kaimahi is granted fee concessions meaning attendance on a Wintec course is free
of charge; or where kaimahi are paid professional development leave whilst attending a course.
We also have numerous internal professional development courses available to kaimahi that can be
either compulsory or recommended, depending on their role. These courses do not involve a cost
per attendee and hundreds are completed every year, often online through our kaimahi training
portal.
You have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the OIA if you are
