Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 21 September 2023.
You asked for information regarding Police recruitment. Police contacted you on 22
September 2023 requesting that you clarify questions one and two of your request. You
responded on the same day with:
For my first question, I mean only for Police recruits specifical y in the Canterbury
region.
For my second and third question I would like data for the timeframe of; 2013 -
2022.

What is the average wait time from initial application to being selected for a wing for
applicants who are successful in a Canterbury placement?
The average wait time from initial application to being selected for a wing for applicants
posted to the Canterbury district between 2014 and 2022 was 694.91 days.
Police moved to their current Application Tracking System in February 2014. Data for
applications current at that time was migrated across to this new system, however, the
original application dates for these applications were not maintained.
Information is only available for successful wing applicants from 2014 onwards. As such,
information for wings prior to April 2014 is refused under section18(e) of the OIA, as the
requested information does not exist.

What is the average age of a police col ege graduate?
The average age of a police college graduate from 2013 to 2022 was 27.94 years of age.
