OIA: 1318832 – Government supply chain reporting
Thank you for your email of 23 August 2023, which was transferred in part to the Ministry of
Education from the office of Hon Carmel Sepuloni on 18 October 2023, requesting the following
information:
Please provide the most recent report completed by the Government and their individual
agencies that have funding in excess of $20m that report on
1) How the agency tackles exploitation risks in their operations and supply chains
2) Specifically looking for supply chains relating to individual agencies and electric cars
3) Specifically looking for supply chains relating to individual agencies and mobile phones
4) Specifically looking for supply chains for any products the government buys in bulk that
require rare earth minerals mined in third world countries contributing to modern slavery
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
We are refusing your request in full under section 18(e) of the Act as the document alleged to contain
the information requested does not exist. The Ministry has not produced any reports pertaining to
exploitation risks in operations and supply chains or regarding electric cars or mobile phones. Nor
has the Ministry produced a report regarding the mining of rare earth minerals contributing to modern
slavery.
