On 18 August 2023, you emailed the Ministry of Social Development (the
Ministry) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the
following information:
•
Are you able to supply communications between your Alternative
Formats staff and those at People First NZ/ Make it Easy. Regarding
requested translations via Creative New Zealand over the last 21
months.
On 29 August 2023, you agreed to refine your request, as the original
timeframe and scope were broad in nature and likely to require manual
collation. Your refined request is as follows:
•
From 5 September 2022 and regarding translations of legal
documents, such as Creative New Zealand's funding agreement.
On 15 September 2023, the Ministry contacted you to advise more time was
required to respond to your request, with a new due date of 29 September
2023.
The document table in the
Appendix outlines the documents provided to
you.
Information not directly concerning translations of legal documents has been
marked as out of scope.
Please note, some information is withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act in
order to protect the privacy of natural persons. The need to protect the
privacy of these individuals outweighs any public interest in the release of the
information.
The principles and purposes of the Official Information Act 1982 under which
you made your request are:
• to create greater openness and transparency about the plans, work
and activities of the Government,

• to increase the ability of the public to participate in the making and
administration of our laws and policies and
• to lead to greater accountability in the conduct of public affairs.
