Information Request –Loafers Lodge
We refer to your official information request dated 19 May 2023 asking for the following
information.
Can I please request the full SMS incident report for #F3740972, including any information
added after this date, up to the date of the response? Can I also please request full transcripts
of any internal emails, heads-up messages, or other communications from FENZ to other
agencies (Parliament, NZ Police, Wellington Free, etc).
We wrote to you on 26 July to advise that your request as currently framed would require
substantial collation and research to complete. We proposed refining your request to ask for all
information both internal and external, regarding the Loafers Lodge response and debriefs, from
when the incident started in May 2023, to Friday May 19, 2023. In order to avoid declining your
request as we have not received a response, we are proceeding with the proposed refinement.
We have made a decision to provide information in scope of the request for all information both
internal and external, regarding the Loafers Lodge response and debriefs, from when the incident
started in May 2023, to Friday May 19, 2023. We expect to provide this information to you within
the next week. Please note, some information will be withheld under the following sections of the
Official Information Act 1982:
− Section 9(2)(a) -to protect the privacy of natural person, including that of deceased natural
persons. We do not consider that there is a public interest in the release of the information
which outweighs withholding it.
− Section 6(c), to avoid prejudice to the maintenance of the law, including the prevention,
investigation, and detection of offences, and the right to a fair trial.
− Section 9(h), to protect legal privilege.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
