Appendix One – Fire station developments

A new fire station is currently being built in Parnell, Auckland.

Construction is underway and is approximately 70 percent 
complete. Expected completion is estimated to be October 
2024.

Houhora 
The Houhora Fire Station appliance bay was demolished and a 
new one constructed. 
An appliance bay extension with dedicated locker room space is

Whangārei 
Heads 
being built at the Whangārei Heads Fire Station. Construction is 
due to start 1 July 2024 and is expected to take 4 months. 
Asbestos is being removed throughout Auckland City Fire 
Te Hiku 
Auckland City  Station. Expected completion date is estimated to be July or 
August 2024. 
Te Hiku 
Ōtara 
The Ōtara Fire Station has received a seismic upgrade – it was 
completed on 27 January 2023. 
We’re currently renewing the air discharge consent for the 
Ngā Tai ki 
Rotorua – 
National Training Facility in Rotorua with the Bay of Plenty

Training 
Regional Council, Toi Moana. A planning consultant will update

the resource consent application, aiming for completion by 
December 2024. 
A business case has been approved for the construction of a six-

bay single crew composite fire station. We are currently awaiting

The Ruatoria Fire Station underwent seismic and fire upgrades,

The seismic upgrade and refurbishment of the Hastings Fire 
Station were successful y completed in May 2024.

The Trentham Fire Station bedroom upgrade was completed in 
December 2023

Waverley 
The Waverley Fire Station appliance bay extension and locker 
room extension were completed in June 2024. 
Te Ihu 
Kaiapoi 
A new station has been built in Kaiapoi - this was completed in 
October 2023. 
A business case has been approved for seismic strengthening 
Te Ihu 
Moana 
and an extension to Moana Fire Station. We are conducting 
further feasibility and the timeframe for completion is expected 
to be July 2025.
