Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) which was partially
transferred to Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) from Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand)
on 12 May 2023. You requested:
“The proportion of patients triaged as having a High Suspicion of Cancer (HSCAN) by a
secondary or tertiary care facility to the patients’ first treatment, on a quarterly or annual
basis”
Please find the below table which summarises the proportion of patients triaged as having a
High Suspicion of Cancer (HSCAN) from 2014 to 2022. Please note that the total number of
patients who were triaged includes:
• The patient had a confirmed diagnosis of cancer at triage
• There is not a high suspicion of cancer
