Thank you for your email of 23 March 2023 asking for the following which has been considered 
under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have specifically requested:  
 
“Please provide all hospitalisations and deaths information broken down by age group and 
covid vaccination status from 2020-2023.” 
The hospitalisation and death data held by Te Whatu Ora does not include any information on 
vaccination status. To consider linkage between vaccination data this would requires substantial 
manual collation to locate, analyse and review. As such, we refuse your request under section 
18(f) of the Act. The greater public interest is in the effective and efficient administration of the 
public service. 
Te Whatu Ora has considered whether we would be able to respond to your request given extra 
time, or the ability to charge for the information requested. We have concluded that, in either case, 
our ability to undertake its work would stil  be prejudiced.
