Project Summary
Short description
Tourism Holdings Limited (
thl) and Holiday Parks Association New Zealand (HPANZ)
embarked on a process to make an Electric Campervan trip a possibility in New
Zealand as a low emission alternative to the current options.
THL started R&D on EVs in 2017 and introduced a Nissan ENV 200 van for road
testing and user insights in Dec/Jan and worked on completing a first electric
motorhome which was on display for the first time for industry trade at Trenz in early
May 2018 and for the public at EV world in Aug and Big Boys Toys in Nov 2018
Thl and HPANZ have been working on 2 itineraries based on user insights and to
create a new experience. Now bookable itineraries are here :
https://www.britzev.com/
Overall project
The EV programme at
thl has passed the next significant milestone as the first
success
customers have been on the road and we have started to gain customer insights in
the full EV experience. As expected, the range of about 120km is still a point for
discussion, but the performance of the vehcile, the local connections gained by
stopping more and the fact you are trafvelling in an ‘ecofriendly’ way gets the thumbs
up.
Chargemaster and HPANZ have progressed well with the installation and certification
of the chargers in a number of new campgrounds, including Hahei, Miranda,
Whitianga, Cambridge, Waihi, Hot Water Beach, Wanaka and Queenstown.
With the shortage of tradespeople there has been a delay in the installations, but we
are hopeful to be able to complete these all by our last claim of the project.
Milestone 7,8 and 9 are also underway to be completed with a summer review
session in February which will lead into the planning documentation as per milestone
8 & 9.

• Total payable by EECA is $5k per charger which we
are expecting to be $10k per double head charger.
Currently we are tracking to $6,200 + $6,000 =
$12,200 per site, so again we are over allocated
• Please note, we are also including $17k to cover EV
cable costs to give us the ability to charge the EV at
