EECA LEVCF FUND 03-149
Project Summary
Short description
Tourism Holdings Limited (
thl) and Holiday Parks Association New Zealand (HPANZ)
embarked on a process to make an Electric Campervan trip a possibility in New
Zealand as a low emission alternative to the current options.
THL started R&D on EVs in 2017 and introduced a Nissan ENV 200 van f or road
testing and user insights in Dec/Jan and worked on completing a f irst electric
motorhome which was on display f or the f irst time f or industry trade at Trenz in early
May 2018 and f or the public at EV world in Aug and Big Boys Toys in Nov 2018. Thl
proceeded ahead of the EECA schedule and put 10 eLDVs on f leet in December
January to start getting f urther insights
Thl and HPANZ have been working on 2 itineraries based on user insights and to
create a new experience. Now bookable itineraries are here :

Overall project
The f irst pilot of the EV programme at
thl has now been completed. The insights have
success
been gathered around the 3 important parts of the thl business model: build - rent –
sell
thl is committed to electric vehicles going f orward, and the question based on the
current insights is how quickly the customers, the products (batteries especially)
market and the inf rastructure will catch up.
New EV strategy is being f ormulated and
thl will continue this year with f urther testing
and exploration of dif f erent Electric options.
