Thank you for your email of 09 February 2023 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:
I need the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA):
1. How many current partnership-based visitor’s visa of work visa holders under process.
2. The oldest file under process of partnership-based visitor’s visa of work visa holders (provide
date and number of applications).
3. How many partnership-based visitor’s visa of work visa holders application under process who
has applied it before covid-19 and after 1st Aug 2022.
4. Current longest time frame for Partnership based visitor’s visa of work visa holders application
processing time.
5. How many SMC file under process before November 2022 draw out of which how many
applications has CO allocated and how many has been processed.
6. how many SMC file under process after November 2022 out of which how many applications
has CO allocated and how many has been processed.
We clarified the third question in your request, which you confirmed on 6 March 2023 to read
as: -
How many applications has been received (accepted and lodged) before 10/08/2020. How
many applications has been received (accepted and lodged) after 01/08/2022. Mean number of
SMC application and Partnership based worker of visitor’s visa received by dates mention and
how many still under process (waiting for decision) it’s good to process.”
Our Response
We apologise for the delay in providing this information.
Question One: As at 06 March 2023, there were 1,243 visitor visa applications in process where the
applicant is in a partnership with a work visa holder.
Question Two: As at 06 March 2023, the oldest application under consideration for the visitor visa
applications where the applicant is in a partnership with a work visa holder was received on 29 August
2019. This is the only application from this date.
Question Three: As at 06 March 2023, there were 1,197 visitor visa applications on hand where the
applicant is in a partnership with a work visa holder received since 1 August 2022, and five were
received before 10 August 2020.

Questions Four: As at 06 March 2023, the median processing time for visitor visa applications where the
applicant is in a partnership with a work visa holder was 27 weekdays and 90% of the applications were
processed within 141 weekdays.

Question Five: As at 6 March 2023, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) had 803 Skilled Migrant category
(SMC) applications on hand which were submitted before 01 November 2022 and all of these
applications have been allocated to an immigration officer.
Question Six: As at 6 March 2023, INZ had 2,643 SMC applications on hand which were submitted after
01 November 2022. Out of these 259 applications had been allocated to an immigration officer and
2,384 applications are waiting in the queue to be allocated.
