Response to your request for official information Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), which was
transferred from the Ministry of Justice to Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) on 22
November 2022. You requested:
“I would like to request any information, report or communication, that seeks to explain,
justify, or give an analysis of, the 2019 - 2020 turn in the direction of the trend in the
suspected suicide rate.”
Manatū Hauora has searched its records and has not been able to identify any information
within scope of your request. Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand and the Health Quality &
Safety Commission have also been consulted to ascertain whether either agency could accept
transfer of your request pursuant to section 14(b)(i) of the Act. Both agencies did not hold any
information within scope. Unfortunately, your request is refused under section 18(g)(i) of the Act,
as the information requested is not held by Manatū Hauora and there are no grounds for
believing it is held by another agency subject to the Act.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
