Request for information 
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 1 June 2022, in which 
you asked: 
1.
Do non-sworn police staff all have six-digit query identity (QID) in the same way as
sworn police staff?
2.
Are the first two digits the initials of their first and last names for all QIDs?
3.
How about the 0800105777 (Police Infringement Bureau), 105 and 111 telephone
service staff? Are they and their supervisors sworn or non-sworn members of the
police? Do they have QIDs?
The following is in response to your questions: 
1.
All Constabulary and other Police employees (OPE) have a six digit QID.
2.
In most cases the first two digits of the QID are the first and last name initials of the
employee. However, if an employee has changed their name due to marriage, deed
poll or reverting to a previously known surname, their QID is not changed to reflect
the new names. Currently:
a.
736 employees out of 15,469 non casual employees have QIDs where the
first two digits do not match their current first and last names.
b.
75 casual employees have a 2-digit prefix of 00. Prior to April 2017 casual
staff were identified with the 00 prefix. These 75 casual staff were first
employed prior to April 2017.
c.
309 casual staff have a QID with the first 2 digits being the first name and
surname initials, and 6 do not as they have had a name change.
3.
All of the Police staff listed in your question have a QID. Supervisors can be either
Constabulary or OPEs.
