Information Request –Awarua Fire
I refer to your official information request dated 10 May 2022 asking for the following information:
1. The ICAD report for this incident.
2. Incident Action Plans (IAPs) for the day and the night shifts for the period 2 April - 7 April 2022.
These IAPs would be prepared in accordance with the Coordinated Incident Management System
(CIMS) to plan and manage the response to the incident as mandated by Government and FENZ
operational instructions; and
3. A breakdown of the costs incurred to date for this incident.
On 8 June 2022 we provided you with a copy of the ICAD report you requested and advised of an
extension of the time to make our decision to 30 June 2022.
2. Incident Action Plans (IAPs) for the day and the night shifts for the period 2 April - 7 April 2022.
These IAPs would be prepared in accordance with the Coordinated Incident Management System
(CIMS) to plan and manage the response to the incident as mandated by Government and FENZ
operational instructions; and
Please see enclosed Incident Action Plan’s for the period 4 April to 7 April 2022. I am advised an
Incident Action Plan was not completed on 2 April, and that an Action plan was completed on site
for 3 April but this is unable to be located. Consequently, your request for these dates is declined
under section 18(e) of the Official Information Act.
3. A breakdown of the costs incurred to date for this incident.
We are nearing completion of working through the costs Awarua fire costs. At this time, our
estimate of the total fire control costs for the Awarua fire is around $1.4M. At this stage a final
breakdown of the costs is not available. Consequently, this request is declined under section 18(e)
of the Official Information Act. We are happy to consider a subsequent request for this
information.
