[FYI request #18706 email]
Dear Oscar
Thank you for your email through
www.fyi.org.nz, dated 28 February 2022 requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
•
…a breakdown of the number of ballot entries for each home in Auckland in the past 2
years and the number of people offered to buy the home through Kiwi Build.
KiwiBuild homes are sold by ballot in agreement between the developer and Kāinga Ora –
Homes and Communities. Ballots are considered a fair and equitable way to determine buyers,
when it is anticipated there will be substantial interest in the homes available for sale.
Providing you with the number of ballot entries for each of those KiwiBuild homes would require
substantial collation. I am therefore declining this part of your request under section 18(f) of the
Act:
that the information requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or
research.
Instead, I provide information in the tables below on the number of KiwiBuild developments in
Auckland that used a ballot as method of sale; the number of KiwiBuild homes sold by ballot;
the number of ballot applicants; and the number of ballot entries for those homes, for the 2020
and 2021 calendar years.
