Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 4 February 2022 for:
“…all records mentioning Matt/Matthew Shelton or Sue Grey or Outdoors and Freedom
Party or Nanotechnology - received or created or modified since 1 Jan 2022 to the date
and time any search is conducted by the MoH. This will include (but not be limited to)
anything submitted to Parliament’s Health Select Committee. Records received or
generated in paper or electronic form are included in the request including any written
notes or emails by officials. Where a relevant email is found by this request then the whole
email chain wil be returned.”
On 15 February 2022 you were advised by the Ministry via email that your request was for a
large volume of information and may be refused under section 18(f) of the Act as this would
necessitate a search through multiple Ministry databases and inboxes for mentions of the above
keywords. As such you were asked to refine your request. On that same day you responded,
however you did not refine your request. As such, your request is refused under section 18(f) of
the Act, as the information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. I
have considered whether charging or extending the time to compile the information would
enable us to respond, however, as such a large volume of databases and inboxes would need
to be searched and reviewed, I do not believe it is in the public interest to do so.
The Ministry remains willing to engage with you on making a request under the Act.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
