Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 9 November 2021
in which you asked for the following information:
Any and all documents/communications/reports, including emails, that mention
the "VJM Publishing" website or Facebook page since December 2016.
Documents and emails have been located which contain references to VJM Publishing.
Pursuant to section 16(2)(c) and (3)(a) of the OIA, I can advise you that I am not prepared
to release copies of these documents because doing so would prejudice the interest
protected by section 6(c) of the OIA, being the maintenance of the law, including the
prevention, investigation, and detection of offences.
However, pursuant to section 16(1)(e) of the OIA, I can provide the following summary
of the material held by Police:
In May 2019, Police became aware of media reports that VJM publishing was
promoting t-shirt sales on TradeMe with the slogan 'it's okay to be white'.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are not satisfied
with the response to your request. Information about how to make a complaint is
available at: www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
Yours sincerely
