Thank you for your email dated 5 November 2021 requesting under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act) the following information: 
•  Could you please provide information on any Kiwibuild homes contracted to be built in 
Auckland, including the ones that have not yet been published on Kiwibuild website. 
•  Could you please also provide estimated construction start dates and/or estimated 
construction completion dates for these developments where known. 
•  Could you please also advise that if all these projects will be listed in KiwiBuild website, 
or some of them will be listed by the contract developer themselves? 
•  Could you please also advise how many KiwiBuild homes are planed to build in the 
future, except for those in the answer to this enquiry. 
The table in attachment one outlines KiwiBuild homes contracted to be built in the Auckland region 
as at 30 September 2021, including the anticipated construction start and anticipated construction 
completion dates for each development. Information on KiwiBuild developments that are yet to be 
announced is withheld under section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act as providing this information would be 
likely to unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the 
subject of the information. 
 
As new KiwiBuild developments are announced publicly and homes within those developments 
become available to buy, they will be listed on the KiwiBuild website. Developers may also choose 
to list the homes for sale through their own development website or via their sales agent(s). 
 
I can advise that as at 30 September 2021 there were 788 KiwiBuild homes under construction at 
various developments around New Zealand. You can find more information on the progress of the 
KiwiBuild programme through the publicly released Government Housing Dashboard located here: 
https://www.hud.govt.nz/research-and-publications/statistics-and-research/the-government-
housing-dashboard/.  
 
There is no longer a targeted amount of Kiwibuild homes to be built. Kāinga Ora – Homes and 
Communities is committed to enabling as many Kiwibuild homes as possible in areas of demand 
and as private developers submit appropriate development proposals.
