Tēnā koe Scott,
Request for official information relating to commissioner and FRAC meeting minutes on
cyber security
We refer to previous correspondence on the following requests.
17 May request for official information relating to commissioner and FRAC meeting minutes on cyber
security and digital investment; and 7 December requests for official information relating to reports
and commissioner and FRAC meeting minutes on cyber security
In our letter dated 2 June 2022 we extended the time on your request to 11 July 2022. This was
because of the significance of the cyber event and the need to consult with affected stakeholders.
Unfortunately, due to a number of factors including significant staff vacancies and il ness, impacting
our day to day delivery of both clinical and back-office services, we have been unable to complete
our revised decision and consultation within that timeline. For this we sincerely apologise.
Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waikato District (Formerly Waikato DHB) is fully committed to
being open and transparent, however, we are conscious the requested material reveals sensitive
information relating to IT infrastructure that delivers clinical care services and there is ongoing risk
that this active threat actor and other cybercriminals may continue to monitor for public statements
on the incident so need to be extremely cautious to avoid providing information that could encourage
or be useful in an attack.
We are hopeful that we wil be able to complete consultation and provide our decision within 10
working days (Tuesday 26 July). If you have any questions, you can contact us at
[email address]
If you are not happy with this response, you have the right to make a complaint to the
Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
by phoning 0800 802 602.
As this information may be of interest to other members of the public, Health NZ has decided to
proactively release a copy of this response on Health NZ’s website. Al requester data, including
your name and contact details, wil be removed prior to release. The released response wil be
made available here.
