INFORMATION REQUEST – CCTV Cameras
We write in response to your email dated 22 September 2021 in which you requested the
following information:
· Please provide an up to date list with locations and Model number of all TCC
owned, operated or monitored CCTV cameras.
· Please also provide the location of all TCC owned, operated or monitored
cameras that read vehicle number plates (also known as ANPR cameras).
· Please also provide how often these are upgraded and who services these, who
these cameras are monitored by, who has access to the camera footage and
what record is kept of vehicle license plates captured on TCC cameras.

We have considered your request in accordance with the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”) and respond as follows:
Please find attached a list of 797 cameras including 33 ANPR cameras. This list shows the
name of the camera and its location. You request for the model numbers is refused under
sections 6 and 7 of LGOIMA as disclosing this level of detail presents an unacceptable level
of cyber security risk.
The CCTV cameras are renewed every five years. They are serviced by Nutech and
Connect IT. The cameras are monitored by the Tauranga Transport Operations Centre
(TTOC).
The asset owner of each camera has the necessary permissions to view the cameras they
are responsible for i.e. Library Manager for library cameras. TTOC staff have access to and
monitor all cameras. The NZ Police have access to all cameras via an agreement with
Tauranga City Council. License plate data is held in a database for 30 days before being
deleted on a first-in first-out cycle.
