Information Request – Matakana Fire - Operational Review 
 
On 2 September 2021 you requested a copy of the Operational Review of the Matakana fire that 
occurred on 13 December 2021. 
 
In response to your previous request for this information, on 2 June 2021 we advised you that the 
Operational Review was still in its early stages and that the report did not exist. 
 
I have been advised that, for a number of reasons including the impact of COVID-19, the 
Operational Review is not yet complete.  It is anticipated that this may take at least another 
month. 
 
Your request is therefore declined under section 18(e) of the Official Information Act 1982 as the 
information does not currently exist. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
