Official Information Act 1982 request
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 10 June 2021 to the New
Zealand Police. On 15 June 2021, your request was transferred to the Ministry of Justice (the
Ministry) for response. I am responding as Group Manager, Courts and Tribunals, Regional Service
Delivery.
You requested information on the outcome of charges for making
“Inconsistent and fabricated
sexual complaints”, per year (2010 to 2020). Specifically you requested:
1.
How many charges were dismissed?
2.
How many were convicted?
In response to your request, I must advise that the Ministry’s Case Management System uses
offence codes to record offences. There is no specific code that captures the offences you have
requested. The information you have requested is therefore not held by the Ministry and I am
refusing your request under section 18(g)(i) of the OIA as there are no grounds for believing that the
information is held by another department, Minister of the Crown, organisation, or local authority.
