Dear Russell,
Request for Information - Our Reference IR-01-20-33138
Thank you for your request for information  received  3  November 2020
requesting  audio recordings of 111 calls allegedly made to Police.
Specifically, you requested:
Can I please have a voice recorded copy of a 2 calls that were
allegedly made to 111 at a time between 1815 and 1845 on 16th
October 2020 from Puhoi, Auckland. The phone number using this
service was 0212819278.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official
Information Act 1982 (‘the Act’).
I have refused your request pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act as the
withholding of the information is necessary to “protect the privacy of natural
persons, including that of deceased natural persons”.
I have considered the public interest in making available  the information
requested against the factors requiring protection. I have concluded that the
need to protect the privacy of the caller  is not outweighed by the public
interest in releasing the calls.  These factors included the nature of your
relationship to the incident, the expectation of privacy held by individuals
when calling 111, and the need to protect the privacy of others whom Police
spoke to throughout the duration of the call.
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request, you have the right
