REQUEST FOR INFORMATION                                                                 IR-01-20-10450 
I refer to your email dated 4 April 2020 in which you requested the following information: 
“We here by request under the Freedom of Information Act the document titled 
‘Operational Policing Guidelines - Alert Level 4, scenarios for the Frontline’ or similarly 
titled as provided by the Police National Headquarters to Journalism staff documented 
here https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/120785044/coronaviruspolice- 
lack-power-to-truly-enforce-lockdown-rules. Furthermore please provide any other 
documents related to Policing operations for the COVID-19 lockdown”. 
I have considered your request in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 and 
attach a copy of the guidelines provided to Police staff. A copy of the guidelines can also 
be found on the Police website: www.police.govt.nz. Also attached is a copy of the 
National Operation Order for Checkpoints (Operation COVID19) April 2020. Some 
aspects of this document are withheld under s6(c) as release of the information would 
likely prejudice the maintenance of the law. 
You have the right, under section 28 (3) of the Official Information Act 1982, to ask the 
Ombudsman to review my decision if you are not satisfied with the way I have responded 
to your request.
